Fitness at VU Sports centre

Would you like to improve your physical fitness and general health? Or would you like to work out at the VU Sports centre to enhance your strength, speed and flexibility? Then ‘fitness’ could be the thing for you!

VU Sports centre has two fitness centres: Uilenstede and VU Campus. Both locations have modern fitness equipment to do cardio as well as strength training. You will always find excellent trainers in the work out area, who are there to help you reach your goals.

Fitness can be divided into two types: cardio and strength.

Cardio fitness

With cardio fitness, you focus on improving your physical fitness. You will train your lungs (lung system) and cardiovascular system. Training in the right heartbeat zone is very important. Exercise equipment such as treadmills, cross trainers and flex striders, will help you get into the right zone.

Strength training

With strength training you focus on the development and training of the muscles. By increasing your muscle mass, you will not only get stronger and bigger, but also burn more calories. Therefore, strength training is a good way to lose weight.

Training routine fitness

Would you like to train in the fitness facility with a training routine that is especially made to fit your training objectives? After subscribing at the reception or through the website you can schedule a meeting with one of our fitness instructors. To do so, simply call, or ask at the reception of the VU Sports centre. The introduction consists of a brief explanation of the machines and will take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on your experience and desires. During this introduction your training objectives will be ‘translated’ into a training routine. You can have this routine updated every 3 months.

Necessities

We recommend you to wear comfortable, solid indoor sports shoes, which are not worn outside and wear comfortable clothes. Bringing a bottle of water might be convenient, bringing a towel is obligated at VU Sports centre. Not using a towel in our fitness and group lessons is prohibited, our instructors are allowed to refuse you acces to the VU Sports centre.

Free day pass

Would you like to try the fitness facilities and machines of the VU Sports centre? No problem – all new members can try one day of activities from our sports portfolio, entirely free! To do so, please register at the reception at either one of our two locations. Maximum of one free day pass per person.
