Pump

Pump is a music accompanied group class where you’ll use all your muscles by using weights and dumbbells. The emphasis is on strength training, but the objective is to not create extreme muscle mass. The class revolves around developing a trained body and training the endurance of your muscles.

Burning energy is the most important thing of this group class and Pump is also referred to as the 'fastest way to get in shape'.

The class revolves around developing a trained body and training the endurance of your muscles. Burning energy is the most important thing of this group class and Pump is also referred to as the ‘fastest way to get in shape’.

Pump classes

While listening to some nice music the Pump class starts. After warming up you will go ‘all in’ using dumbbells and barbells… and of course a good musical beat. The effect of a good Pump class is enhanced by the power of repetition. By repeating the exercises with weights various times, you are challenging your muscles to work. All big muscles groups will have to work. During the class it is not about the amount of weight, the focus is repetition with a lower weight. Executing the exercises using the right technique is more important than the amount of weight used.

What do you need?

The dumbbells and barbells used in Pump class are available at the sport studios of VU Sport centre. For a Pump class it is important to wear good and supporting indoor sport shoes as well as comfortable sportswear. Besides that, we recommend you bring a bottle of water and a towel. Pay attention: Using a towel is obliged at the VU Sports Centre, both for the group classes and in the fitness areas.
