Raynetics at VU Sports centre

The origin of Raynetics lies with founder Raimondo Fornoni, an emeritus ballet dancer from the National Ballet. He developed his own method and this philosophy can now also be experienced at Sportcentrum VU. In the lessons participants will recognize elements from Pilates, Yoga and Broga lessons.

Content of the lesson

During the lessons we work on improving strength, agility, balance and coordination. Raynetics is a combination of concentric movements (focused on strength and shortening movements of the muscles) and eccentric movements (focused on increasing the flexibility and lengthening of the muscles). The combination of both stimulates an increase in flexibility and control of the body and movements. To achieve this, movements are performed in:

• standing position (balance, strength and agility)
• lying position (coordination and focus on abdominal muscles)
• on hands and knees (strength and coordination)
• seated (coordination and flexibility)
• alternating a number of exercises per lesson with a partner. Buddy up: helping each other in coordination and flexibility.

The goal of the lesson is to train a good, strong and conscious posture in daily life.

The lesson is partly done standing and partly sitting / lying down. Vu Sports centre provides yoga mats. The use of a towel is mandatory for every athlete. You’re free to bring your own yoga mat to class ofcourse.
