Have you always wanted to work out with a former World Champion as your trainer? Then come along and do kickboxing at the VU Sports Centre with Jerry Morris. He's a ten-time World Champion in both Muay Thai Boxing and Shidokan Karate.
Kickboxing is a full body workout, which will help you to build and maintain a strong physical fitness. You'll also increase the flexibility of your muscles, and because of the 'real combat aspect' of this sport, the sparring part, your reflexes will improve too.

This martial art was developed as a combination of several martial arts like boxing, Muay Thai and Kung Fu. Kickboxing was used as a sport to measure practitioners of different martial art disciplines against each other. To practice this martial art, you use both your hands and feet, combining the punches from boxing with the kicks from Karate and Taekwondo.
It is often confused with Thai boxing, but there are some differences. Punches with the elbow are prohibited in kickboxing, but they are allowed in Thai boxing. Also, the way of kicking if different. You will begin to recognize this difference in the various ways of competing.

VU Sports centre offers several classes: kickboxing, sparring and punchbag training. Try them all or ask the trainer which type of kickboxing class matches your training objectives. Training practice is open to all levels: from beginner to advanced.
Jerry Morris teaches these classes at the VU Sports Centre. He holds several World Champion titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai boxing.
There are gloves and shin protectors available at the centre. Wearing a mouth guard, bandages and a crotch protector is recommended. Check the timetable to see when the classes take place. The classes take place in the martial arts zone on the second floor of the Uilenstede location.
