The Game
Blind and visually impaired tennis is an official sport, the fastest growing disability sport in the world.(source: IBTA) To play the game, the rules of tennis have been slightly modified making it accessible to people with visual impairments. It can be played on any tennis court or other sports field.
The game is played with a special audible ball. Players are graded according to their vision B1 for totally blind, and B2-B4 for visually impaired. Blind and visually impaired tennis is currently already played in 27 countries worldwide, and we want to roll it out together in the Netherlands. The goal is to go to the World Cup and Paralympic Games in 2032 with an Orange team!
The BSTN foundation that exists from the end of January will also focus on tournaments at home and abroad.
Blind and visually impaired tennis is for everyone. Whether you are young or old, no matter what level. Just for fun or for the fanatic, it is all possible.
