Basketball
Basketball today is played in two forms
Traditional 5x5 on a whole field or the new trendy 3x3 game on half a field with modified rules. You can come to Sportcentrum VU for both forms!
Recreational basketball
Starting in September 2026, you can participate in recreational basketball at the VU Sports Center every Tuesday from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Uilenstede location, in Hall 1 in Amstelveen.
From 8:30–9:15 p.m., we offer a program for beginners if there is sufficient interest (at least 8 participants) on one court. On the other courts, players of all skill levels are welcome; the group is divided into teams, and recreational games are played.
There’s room for everyone!
To participate in these recreational basketball sessions,you must have a subscription with the VU Sports Center.
Everyone can play basketball—men, women, young and old! Throughout the season, tournaments will also be organized on these evenings. There is also a WhatsApp group for all participants. Here, you’ll be kept informed about the tournaments and other interesting news. Ask the coaches for access to this WhatsApp group.
All basketball players must wear indoor shoes that have not been worn outside. This is for the safety of all users of the Sports Center.
