Introduction course fencing
Come and discover this fast-paced and tactical martial art in this 13-week course.
A 13-week course starts on 7 September 2026, ideal for finding out what fencing is all about and whether you’ll enjoy it.
Each session lasts 90 minutes and takes place at the Uilenstede venue.
Follow-up courses will be offered in January and April 2027.
Over the course of 13 weeks, you’ll be guided step-by-step into the world of fencing.
- how to move
- planning your moves strategically
- handling the weapon (épée, sabre or foil) correctly
- striking your opponent correctly
- and also protecting yourself
Once you’ve learnt the basics, we’ll gradually move on to fine-tuning and honing your new skills.
In fencing, the ultimate aim is to defeat your opponent. You’ll both be wearing protective gear, so you cannot injure one another. Balance, speed, coordination and respect are key concepts, and technical and tactical instruction is combined with playful exercises.
