At VU Sports Centre you will find a wide range of ball games. You can come to us for basketball, beach volleyball, tennis and volleyball. We also offer competitive leagues for indoor hockey and indoor soccer.
In the Amsterdam region, The VU Sports Centre offers a range of ball sports, both individual ball sports and team sports. You can practice ball games on a recreational level, but we also organize different competitions where your team plays against other teams. Most ball sports take place in the two sports halls at the Uilenstede location in Amstelveen, except for beach volleyball, which is always played outside on the VU campus. All the other sports are practiced year-round in the sport halls.
Would you like to try a sport for the first time to see if you like it? Opt for our recreational program! In a group with other recreationists you’ll find out, together with an experienced coach, if the sport suits you. You’ll learn all the basic techniques of ball sports, providing you with a good general view of the sport right from the start. The duration and time of the training is different for each ball sport. For example, for tennis, you can choose between courses of 4 and 10 weeks. But for basketball and volleyball, training is given throughout the year. When you’ve gotten better in a certain ball sport, and you want to play more frequently, you can choose to play competitively as well.
Have you already mastered a certain ball game, and would you like to compete against others or other teams? Enter the competitive league! For most ball sports you can just continue practicing at our sports hall. For other sports like tennis or table tennis, you can join a club. That way you’ll also be able to enjoy the social side of that sport. In the sport halls at the Uilenstede location we offer, amongst others, indoor hockey and futsal. You will play on previously planned days and afterwards, to finish the match, you and your team mates can go for a drink at ‘the Hangout’.
