Massage
Sports massage can provide many benefits to the physical and mental condition
Sports massage is the application of a number of hand movements to a bare body part of a healthy athlete, with the aim of improving, maintaining and/or eliminating any adverse effects of his/her sports practice.
Sports massage is applied to reduce symptoms of fatigue that are the direct result of physical exertion (sport or other activity in daily life).
The waste products that cause symptoms of fatigue, pain or cramps are massaged out of the muscles. This has a positive effect on the metabolism, which makes one recover faster and allows one to perform faster again. It can have a preventive effect on injuries.
Besides the above mentioned effects, sports massage, like almost any form of massage, results in psychological and physical relaxation. Besides a wonderfully relaxed feeling, this effect will also allow the body to recover faster and function better.
Because sports and other activities in daily life can have the same influence on our body, (sports) massage is suitable for everyone, even non-athletes. N.B. Sports massage can also be used to activate muscles for a sports activity, as part of (not replacing!) a warm-up.
Within Sportcentrum VU there are 2 masseurs working, each with their own characteristics and working hours, Marco and Nina.
The basis for Marco Linnemann's sports therapy is massage and is supplemented and broadened by: connective tissue massage, Shiatsu (Japanese pressure point massage), foot reflex zone massage, Aqua massage (using a hot water cushion), chair massage and lymphatic drainage. This enables him to treat (often chronic) complaints from various angles, with attention not only to the direct complaint, but also to possible indirect causes. Through the treatment one is more likely to be able to return to sport, it has a preventive effect and you also have a relaxing time!

Nina is a massage specialist, where you can go for sports massage, deep tissue massage or relaxation massage. As a fanatical former athlete she experienced the beneficial effects of massage on injuries and fatigue. This fascinated her so much that she eventually decided to train as a massage therapist.
She has her own practice, but is happy to also offer her expert massage treatments through Sportcentrum VU.
