A month of free Aikido lessons
Aikido is a Japanese martial discipline with a philosophical slant. The Eastern martial art was developed in the early 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba, who drew inspiration from the techniques of Japanese samurai and martial arts such as daito ryu jiu jitsu, jiujitsu and kenjutsu.
What can you teach during a lesson? The art of falling safely, the art of harmonising with the opponent, the art of timing and the art of martial wisdom. By making smooth, circular movements, you try to unbalance your attacker, making the punch or strike miss its target. It is therefore not considered a martial art, but is meant as self-defence. Practicing aikido gives you inner strength, self-confidence, focus, flexibility and balance.
In the month of March, you can join Aikido classes every Tuesday from 18:00 - 19:00 for free at Sportcentrum VU, location Uilenstede.
