Beach Week 1 t/m 5 June 2026
Join the volleyball tournament on the VU campus!
From 1 to 5 June, we’re organising the very first Beach Week. It’ll be a week dedicated to volleyball on the beach volleyball courts on the VU campus.
Who and when:
- On Monday 1 June 2026, student teams will compete against each other
- On Tuesday 2 June 2026, it’s the turn of VU staff
- On Wednesday 3 June 2026, it’s the turn of local volleyball clubs
- On Thursday 4 June 2026, we welcome teams from the Zuid-As.
Where:
The tournament will be held on the beach volleyball courts at the VU Campus (Boelelaan 1105, Amsterdam). Matches are 4-a-side.
What time:
On all days, matches are from 17:00 – 20:00
Cost per team:
- Students: €50
- VU staff: €75
- Clubs: €75
- Teams from the surrounding area (e.g. from the Zuid-As): €100
Registration
Put a team together (maximum 6 people) and register. Registration is per team.
The registration fee includes a free drink at Bar Boele (minimum 4 participants, maximum 6 participants).
Subsequent drinks are available at a discount at Bar Boele
Prizes
There are great prizes to be won for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
Buy your team ticket (until 26 May 2026).
If you do not yet have a customer account, you must create one first.
You don’t need any experience to join in! Everyone is welcome.
We play by the standard volleyball rules, but on sand.
Want to practice beforehand?
Of course you can. You can rent a beach volleyball court on campus through the customer portal.

- Teams consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 players (allowing for substitutions).
- Each match lasts 20 minutes, including time for team and court changes. This results in approximately 15 minutes of actual playing time per match.
The tournament is open to all levels, from beginners to more competitive players. Mixed teams are encouraged, but not required.
Teams are expected to check in at least 30 minutes before their first match.
Matches take place between 17:00 and 20:00. Depending on your progress, you can expect to be there for around 2 to 3 hours.
The match schedule will be shared during the event.
One team member purchases a team ticket via the portal. The team will be registered under this person’s name, and all communication will go through them.
The registration fee includes one complimentary drink at Bar Boele, discounts on additional drinks, all equipment (balls, courts, referees, music), and a great atmosphere.
At the beach volleyball courts on the VU Campus (next to the OZW building: Boelelaan 1109, 1081 HV Amsterdam).
- Sportswear suitable for sand
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and water (recommended)
Yes, these are available at the Sportcentrum VU in the OZW building.
At the registration desk near the beach courts (clearly signposted).
There are no lockers at the courts. You can leave your belongings there at your own risk.
- The event will continue in light rain
- In case of severe weather, the event may be adjusted or rescheduled. Participants will be informed in advance
Yes! You can expect:
- Music
- A chill area with picnic benches
- Extra workout at the calisthenics park next to the beachvolleyball fields
- Drinks and social moments at Bar Boele
- Prizes for the winners
