Exercising with a disability or handicap

People with disabilities or handicaps often benefit from a good exercise program

Many people with disabilities play sports during rehabilitation. However, at home it can be difficult to keep going. We encourage you to get and keep moving. Together we look at the possibilities and we will draw up a personalized training schedule.

Exercise is an excellent way to tackle physical and cognitive problems. It improves brain functions and gives positive energy. In addition, movement can reduce the chance of a relapse.

More information

You will receive a personal intake with a qualified instructor. In this intake we look at your specific circumstances and possibilities and we draw up a suitable exercise program. This intake can be repeated periodically. Then you can get started with your exercise program. If you run into problems or have questions, you can always contact the instructor present. If you want 1 on 1 guidance with every training, then there will be extra costs for Personal Training.

Mariëlle Spekreijse is our contact person for exercising with a disability. To request an intake or to obtain more information, please send an email to m.spekreijse@vu.nl. She will then plan the first intake for you. You can of course also arrange your subscription at the desk. In that case, you can schedule the intake directly with the instructor.

We are the preferred partner of READE, the center for rehabilitation medicine and rheumatology in Amsterdam, for exercising close to home.
